So, How Big Ah?

I recently got engaged. Finally!! So naturally the next thing to do was to spread the news – ring the family, email the friends, especially those who weren’t geographically near us! All were very pleased, with reactions like ‘Finally ah! So when's the date?’.

Then there is this one person (let's call her Kelly) in Singapore and her reaction was "So, how big ah?".

Grrr.....

I was pissed off. My fiancé thought it was really funny. Of course lah, he not Singaporean. He doesn’t know what some of them ARE LIKE!
 

So, this person rings me to congratulate me. 

"So, how big ah?" came the question immediately after the congratulations.

"Well, it doesn’t matter how big it is, it’ll never be big enough for you" I replied coldly.

"Aiyah… for me, 1 carat good enough already" She added as I started to splutter my water onto my desk.

What the F*ck!! Like hello!!?? 1 carat? Is 1 carat or 2 the norm? Maybe in Singapore diamonds grow on trees?? Or money grow on trees?? Over here, diamonds are damn expensive (I think Asia in general very cheap for a lot of things!). Shouldn't the fact that my boyfriend wants to marry me be the most important thing?? 

Thankfully for me (and maybe her), the mobile phone reception in the particular place I was in at that time, wasn't very strong (hurrah for some things down under), so the phone conversation got cut short. 

When I narrated this to another Singaporean friend living overseas, she laughed and gave me the "I told you so". She also suggested that I should have said "Well, at least I got someone who wants to marry me. Do you?"… Ohhhh, catty! I like!

In previous conversations between and I, she commented that "I'm not uglier than you, so how come I can’t find a boyfriend ah?" 

 

I think I know why now!

I too, know Kelly in person and I must say that her yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yappity yaps annoys me to no end. Still, that's Kelly and will just have to accept that for who she is.

In Minako's defence, while Kelly may claim to be more beautiful than Minako, I would like to say that it's the reverse for their respective inner beauty.
