Mountain Dew eXtreme

Spotted this at Walmart that really caught my eye. MDX as in Mountain Dew eXtreme. Given that Mountain Dew itself is already the soda pop with the highest caffeine (my fave!) level, the guys at PepsiCo decides to up the ante and add Taurine into it.

Now Taurine is the stuff that we find in energy drinks like Red Bull and Livita.

Nadnut, are you reading this? Soda Pop and Red Bull in the same bottle!!

A further closer look and we find all sorts of weird chemical names listed in the ingredients. Geez, what the hell are we putting into ourselves these days?

There is also mention of Ginseng in it. Whoa! Got Ginseng leh!!!

Eu Yan Sang, are you reading this?

Well, anyway, out of curiosity, I bought of bottle of it to try. With the green colour, one cannot but think of radioactive toxic waste. Oh wait, this isn't be too far off with all the chemical stuff in it. No?

Tasting Notes: Taste like the regular Mountain Dew with a hint of bubble-gum during the finish. Not as sweet as the regular Mountain Dew though.

I thought the normal mountain dew is already green? With you saying the it looks like chemical, makes me think that it taste like antibiotics. Haha..

kIm: Actually, if you think about it, they are all full of chemicals! Goto my flickr account and see the ingredient list of the MDX. More than half the stuff in there, I have no idea what they are! :(

EEeee....just the look of it can make me go green also....it is also shown that the most off-putting colour in food is BLUE, so some ppl put blue dye in their food to take away their appetite....very torturous form of dieting.

Fructose is a sugar -- to make it sweet.
Sodium benzoate preserves freshness by preventing micro organisms from growing.
Taurine is an amino acid. No?
Citric acid and ascorbic acid no need to explain la hor?
Aiya. Do you really need this? I sound so geeky here.. But I learnt these before. Hais.
