Nescafe Gold

I sputtered my coffee all over the table this morning.

"What da hell is this?" I asked in exclamation.

"No more Vietnam coffee liao." came the reply.

Dang.

Anyway, I went into the kitchen to find the source of this foul concoction only to come face to face with this spanking new bottle of Nescafe Gold.

Hmm.... isn't this supposed to be good? I mean the local coffee shops charges extra over the regular coffee and so surely the premium paid over-and-above the humble house-pouring Java must equate to that of a more superior product?

Well, it was bad as it enters my mouth but I still drank it for this is the only coffee in the house. My next batch of Vietnamese coffee is only arriving on the 18th.

I supposed it doesn't really matter lah. I think it is just a case of my taste buds being pampered and spoilt rotten liao.

As the saying goes. Once you've gone up, it's hard to go back down.

Besides, it is only one more morning of this weak coffee to go before I board the plane and head home for the weekend to the fabulous Kopi-O Gao Gao.

And by the time I get back to Spitland, the Vietnamese beans would have arrived and waiting.

In the meantime while in Singapore, Kopi goo yew anyone?

Skates: Welcome to the blog! Sorry sorry, have to take a rain check on kopi. Took too long to get back online after spending all my time out and about in SG.

Pam: Instant coffee is like a last resort. I would always go for a fresh brew if given a choice.

Spellbound: Didn't know about about Nescafe being fat free. But yeah, I have had a good time at YaKun kopi. Sedap!

slurp!: I have heard of the civet cat pool kopi but I have yet to have the opportunity to try. As for what Viet kopi brand, I'm afraid I haven't the faintest clue. I have friends who shuttle up and down Vietnam and Ch1na and it's them who buys the coffee for me.

It comes in a brown paper bag with a red label affixed on it. The words on the label are in Vietnamese and so even if I know that that is the brand name, I still don't have a clue.

Merryfeet: Slurp! refering to kopi luwak. This is where the civet cat eats the coffee berries and pass them through the digestive tract. Then we brew the coffee from the civet cat shit. Touted to be the most expensive coffee in the world at USD 600 per lb ?
