Got this set of pictures from Spinnee and they were taken on 17 Aug 2007 at around 1:30pm.
The picture above shows the car making a right turn a tad too early and ended up in the pedestrian staircase instead of the main street. If you ask me, I can bet you that the driver is probably talking on the phone while driving.
Too bad, the pictures given to me weren't clear enough to decipher the car number plate or I would have loved to punt a wager on 4D. Damn. Still, you may wanna give the picture a click to enlarge the photo for a better read of the captions.
Anyway, I took the time to have a closer examination of the situation via the photos and I felt like "Yeah. So the driver made an embarrassing boo boo" but it wasn't anything that the driver can't get out of it just as easily.
For starters, look at the steps that the car was perched upon. Ok lah... not very steep and the car's chassis clearance should be able to easily overcome it. Perhaps the need to to shift down to 1st gear and descend a step at a time. Now, if the driver were to attempt to reverse out of the situation instead, call The NewPaper! It's not for them to cover the car incident but to cover the stoopid person behind the steering wheel.
Anyway, I don't think the chassis of the car would be damaged in anyway, perhaps the underside of the tail bumper would risk a scrape at the last few steps?
Secondly, the head of the van on the left of the picture is clue that there is still road ahead for this car at the end of the steps and his/her front wheel is a mere 2 steps from the ground. It could have been worse like my earlier blog entry where the taxi cab ended up at the bottom of the swimming pool.
In all, I would sum this up as: Car damage: Minimal. Ego damage: Massive!
