I got this in an email from my cousin Roy who is based in McAllen, Texas. He told me about this accident that happened just a mere 60 miles away from him, on the other side of the US-Mexico border.

A first look at the picture reminded me of those Looney Tunes or Tom&Jerry cartoons where people were sent spraying all over the place like when a 16-pounder bowling ball crashing into the pins at full throttle.
It was funny then but it is horrifying here for these are real people that were sent flying into the air.
Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at this), there was only 1 fatality. All because of a drugged-up drunk falling asleep at the wheel. Brilliant.
The fact that the cyclists weren't able to get out of the way in time, even when the cyclists were facing the car (i.e. they were not run over from behind and hence the lack of reaction time), comes to show how fast the car was going at them. Now imagine the impact of the crash at that kind of speed. Earlier I mentioned Spitland's Chery QQ car with a EURONCAP of ZERO-star rating. Bicycles are going to be even worse. Ouch.
