Does the name Paul Potts ring a bell?
Does anyone recognise the faces on top?
It's ok if you don't.
That's the winner of last year's Britain's Got Talent.
He was briefly mentioned in my Connie Talbot entry as the latter came in runner-up to this mobile phone salesman.
It was a frenzy for everyone loves the underdog.
A humble salesman with a chubby look that won't exactly hit the front covers of Esquire AND YET, able to bring all the ladies in the house to tears with his voice. Just look at his facial expression in the youtube below and you will see a man with nothing. A man whose sad eyes tells you that he has already resigned to fate. Hence a man with nothing to lose with he decides to give the competition a shot.
If this doesn't pique the people's curiosity, I doubt if anything else would.
With curiosity, comes novelty and looking at how long the novelty of the Portuguese Egg Tart, Bubble Tea, tamagotchi, dog-bone car seat pillow each lasts, the cat dies pretty quickly. Even with all 9 lives.
That's is exactly what happened to Potts for his originally scheduled concert in Hong Kong on 6 Oct 2008 was abruptly canceled last week due to "unforeseen circumstance" which in industry-lingo-speak means bad ticket sales.
So Mr Potts, it was fun while it lasted and off you go back to selling mobile phones. Seriously, I think Potts had a better deal than our poor Taufik who's CD is now peddling for $1.99.
At least Potts got a nice set of teeth now.

Msvindicta: I supposed at his age, he commercially-viable shelf life is significantly lower than that of Connie Talbot. Still Connie success very much depend if the promoters want to invest in her or not?
