Bakmie!

Yeah. That's SillyCelly in case anyone don't recognise her. She is actually an old BarFly albeit inactive circa 2005.

That's the Bakmie stall that she is helping her mom set up and today is her first day!

For those who have been following her blog, she has always been raving about Bakmie whenever she heads back home to Indonesia.

So when I found out of the opening of the stall from the Bakmie blog (fwah! Bakmie also got blog leh! Staydee!), I immediately showed it to my very very homesick Indonesian colleague whose eyes lit up right away when she saw the blog.

Colleague: Eh. Tomorrow we go IMM for lunch ok?

JayWalk: Har? Tomorrow people first day leh. Don't you want to wait for them to settle their first day operations cock ups first?

No prize for guessing who won the debate as we all ended up there for lunch.

Aiyoh, I tell you. My colleague was so excited when she got to the stall and SillyCelly was there manning the stall (for the first 3 weeks. Catch her while she is still there!).

Suddenly all hell broke loose with these two women chatting in Bahasa Indon which I ish catch no ball. By the time, I was asked what I wanted to order, I just said "I am having what she is having". Eat what the locals eat and you won't go wrong. Haha.

Verdict?

Bakmie?

iRike!!

I like the texture of the noodle. A bit hard hard chewy chewy one! Then the home made chili sauce. Very Yum!

Initially, I thought the noodle portions was a wee bit on the small side but surprisingly, it was rather filling. So the portion is ok lor. Don't let the look of it deceive you.

So anyway, given that my colleague was hyper all day (dunno what SillyCelly add in her soup), no prize for guessing where she is dragging the ENTIRE OFFICE to lunch tomorrow. (Ed: And she did!! 10 of us in 3 cars!)

Raising Shirlyn

It didn't matter that:

• the fifty bucks I left at the door didn't make a difference as we raised more than the target $5000 ($5555 to be exact).
  
•  I was left standing in Blu Jaz Cafe for most of the night due to space constrain. Even when the darling LongKangFairy Of Hougang Order kindly offer me a seat by scooting over, I didn't take it since I was hoping to save it for our Barfly XMMs like Ginger and Acardia who arrived late.
  
• I almost have to beg for my Kilkennys. Service is DA SHITS but I'd let that slide as the overwhelming crowd was too much for the understaffed servers.
  
• I was reeling from a viral infection that sapped all my energies and should be resting at home.
  
• I gave two contacts in Los Angeles "in case of emergencies".
  
  when
  
• Shirlyn has no bladdy idea who I am except that I am one of her "brother's friends" (I think).

BUT WHAT DOES MATTER IS THAT:

• the dream of chasing one's passion is now not only possible but a little bit easier.
  
• a brother loves his sister dear
  
  and
  
•  this brother is a good friend of mine.

That's all it counts.

Shirlyn Send Off

Considering the fact that The UnXpected Band blog is hosted on our Liquidblade server, it means that Shirlyn is technically one of the Barflies!

So anyway, as some of you may have heard, she is going on a 9-week sabbatical to learn Bikram Yoga.
That means all the rest of us Barflies are going cold turkey for 9 miserable weeks.

WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!

Ok Ok... so we all drama queen. Bite me.

Going away for an extended period of time needs a shitload of money to sustain, especially during a time where your income is on hold. Let's hope she doesn't end up like the Australian model who was stranded here in Singapore living on 1 can of canned food a day for sustenance and (oh Gawd) almost having to accept "adult services" type of jobs.

From where we are, she looks set with travel and accommodation all settled and we thought we raise a little bit extra for her daily expenses.

Yeah. We hope she has enough money to have 2 cans of canned food per day and spare all the dirty old men the trauma when she render the *ahem* services.

Easter Sunday 2009

Talk about throwing into the deep end!

That's Gabriel whom we decided to see how he takes to the big blue sea on his own. He was pretty brave to be left all alone in the blue yonder for a few minutes before he started to panic. Haha.

Anyway, it was the Easter Sunday and the family decided to take the boat out to sea where we enjoyed the sun, sea and breeze while we cruise to Pulau Senang, Kusu and St John Islands.

Effy: HDR is software manipulation. After you take using any camera in different exposure settings, use software like Photoshop or in my case Photomatix to adjust the exposures and tones.
 

Getting Acquainted With Mother Nature

It was helluva downpour in the afternoon to the extent of minor flash floods in the Bukit Timah area.

While we were safely under shelter, Gabriel decided to venture out to Godpa's car porch to say hi to Mother Nature.

There he was on his own, wading in the little puddles and sticking out his hands to feel the heavy raindrops.

This is such a beautiful picture taken on Mistress Grace's very special day. She was exceptionally gorgeous that night (less the unglam swearing part when she damn bladdy high as well as the LongKangFairy award part).

Then it dawned on my why this particular picture stands out so much, as if it was screaming at me!
